  • NE IT Community Leaders - Improving YOUR NAME Brand
Realtime Wiki: http://bit.ly/ecGyNK Happy New Year to all! Our first North East IT Pro Leader Summit was a huge success!!!! Based on the discussions we had at our first meeting, it was decided that the frequency and event time of the summits should change. Additionally there were some scheduling conflicts. I am happy to report that the schedule is now locked. Our next meeting will be held on Feb 10, 2011 from 3pm-5pm with a social hour available before and after the event. If you would like to see the results of the poll for our meeting time, please visit http://bit.ly/fD5tMz .... The recurring meetings have been cancelled and I will reschedule future meetings for every two to three months on or near our next meeting date. In this meeting we will focus on "Improving YOUR NAME Brand". Improving our name brand is a very important part of becoming a community leader. It is also pretty important to fattening our wallets and decreasing stress. Today we will look at this very important aspect of growing our groups, growing our list of followers and growing our own personal and professional success. Bring your thoughts on this topic and share your successes (and failures) so we can all learn from them. To start the discussion off, we have a discussion board topic with some quick thoughts that I would like everyone to expand on to provide us more information and thought process prior to the meeting so we can get the most of our time together. Please visit http://bit.ly/fKukG2 ... to join in on the discussion. Thanks to Microsoft for their support in providing food and beverage as well as some give aways. Also thanks to O'Reilly (http://oreilly.com) for providing books to give away. As before, it will take place at the Microsoft office in Waltham Ma. .......................................................................................................................... • NE IT Community Leaders Meetup #NELeaders
Twitter Hash #NELeaders Thanks to Winxnet (http://www.winxnet.co... (http://www.winxnet.com/)) for providing Pizza and Beverages and Microsoft for providing the Facility!!! For those that want to attend online or on the phone instead of in person in Waltham, MA, here are the details... ......................................................................................................................................... Give yourself a little extra time to get connected. I am using the brand new Lync server so you may need to download a client or add-in to successfully connect. Join online meeting (https://join.microsoft.com/meet/dstolts/21WCSD75) https://join.microsof... (https://join.microsoft.com/meet/dstolts/21WCSD75) Join by Phone [masked] Find a local number (https://join.microsoft.com/dialin) Conference ID:[masked] ......................................................................................................................................... In an attempt to offer you assistance in serving and building the local community, I have scheduled an online/or live community strategy event for community leaders in the North East territory. By attending, you will get the opportunity to help design a strategy for local community collaboration. We will start off the event with all attendees introducing themselves (quick 30 seconds or so each) [optional, you may opt out if you like :)]. This will allow you to promote books published, upcoming speaking engagements, events, etc. while finding out what others in the territory are doing. If you already have strong relationships with community, you can use this event as a catalyst to build on those relationships. If you would like to get more community exposure or get more involved in the community, this is your chance. This should be a great networking opportunity for those that are new to the community and to those that want to extend or expand their community service. Then we will brainstorm some ideas for growing our community. We will wrap things up with a technology presentation that gives an updated and look at Windows Phone 7. After the event concludes, the room and the conference bridge will be open for networking and further discussion until 4 pm. This event is about community not technology. The technology time was added simply to try to add value to the event. My hope is that as a result of this first online event and strategy brainstorming session, I come away with some action items on how Microsoft can help you with your community efforts. I do hope you will take a few minutes to read through my initial thought process. Even more importantly, I hope you will block off your calendar and attend this event either in person in Waltham MA or online if you cannot attend in person. If you are not able to make it due to schedule conflicts please let me know your thoughts via email http://danstolts.com/... (http://danstolts.com/contact.aspx) or post to idea board at http://neleaders.com... (http://neleaders.com) prior to the event or even shortly after if you have to miss it due to last minute conflicts. Also, I would encourage you to pass this on to other community leaders that work with non-developer Microsoft technologies. They may have gotten an invite from me, but they may not have. So, please send it, just in case :) Since my focus in the territory is primarily IT Pro and there are other people at Microsoft that work specifically with the developer community, I would like to make this non-developer focused. (http://danstolts.com/contact.aspx) or posting the idea at http://www.meetup.com... (http://www.meetup.com/NELeaders/ideas).
