Thanksgiving Homeless Meals

We will be heading into Cleveland to help prepare, serve and deliver over 1000 meals to those who otherwise would not have a Thanksgiving dinner. This is a great opportunity to get out - with or without your kids - and be reminded that there are others who are struggling to get by everyday. (Joint Meetup) This year you can help by doing any one of the following items: 1.) Provide a Cake, Cupcakes, Muffins, or Cornbread OR Main parts of the meal - chicken quarters, Turkey, Corn, Green Beans. (we can make arrangements to obtain from you if you won't be present at the church that day) 2.) Come down and help prepare and serve the meals onsite. 3.) Stay and assist with the delivery of the meals to the homeless shelters and other relief sites. (Early to Mid Afternoon) Give Thanks for what we DO have! Contact Greg for more info

Hi Everyone. I'll be leaving to get there early this morning. If memory serves, the large front door was not open, we went in a side door, and it faced a parking lot across the street from the church. If you have questions, I will be posting from my phone here. Or text me at[masked]-3312. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!

Quick update by the Deacon, they are looking for frozen Chicken or Turkeys, green beans, corn, and Stuffing. This by Tuesday. Large desserts and simple fruits/veggies please bring at 9:00 AM. Smaller desserts/simple add on items can be brought at 10:00 when regular volunteering begins. Deliveries might start as early as 11:00 AM, so you might be able to do some work and leave by 11:00 AM.

For everyone who has been posting: We meet and get oorganized, in about a half an hour wee were assembling meals. If you cannot stay for at least an hour and one half or tow hours, you won't really be able to do that much. Morning work is much more important than afternoon delivery. I will be posting my phone about an hour before the event here.

Hi Hind, I cannot say for sure. I know the assembly of meals is a large part of the work needed, and is done in the morning. We tend to deliver meals later, but there was a serving hall where you might be able to help later.

Hi Everyone, just a note. If you are thinking about bringing raw food, please rememeber to drop it off by Tuesday. You may wish to call ahead. I am not coordinating food drop offs for the church. If you want to bring a large quantitiy of an item, on Thanksgiving Day, I would recommned you call ahead so they can plan for using it.
    Thanks!

I am sorry I have to miss this but I will be out of the area on Thanksgiving day. Kudos to all others who give of their time in this very worthwhile cause.

Here's the deal on the food. Any raw meat - they want to them by TUESDAY. Baked goods, loaves of bread (corn bread too obviously), and cans of corn and/or green beans & fruit like oranges or apples you can bring with you on Thanksgiving Morning. Cooked meat too. Fancier items like casseroles and souffles will likely be provided to the volunteers as its doubtful there would be enough for the meals. Volunteers are given an opportunity to eat about half way thru - when they make more warm vegetables and get the 2nd set of meats ready. Remember some of our volunteers will be alone on Thanksgiving - so this would be their special meal too. - YES - Most of the volunteers will be helping to assemble the meals and aid in delivering if interested/available. You can come and go as you please. They like us to start arriving at 10 AM. KIDS are DEFINITELY WELCOME too!!!
