We'll hike the Buckeye Trail north to just before Boston Mills Rd. and return on the Valley Trail, including a detour loop midway, for a total of approximately 4.5 miles.
This is a winding trail through a very pretty area with a few meadow spots, ravines, and many pine trees. There are a few stream crossings and some heavily rooted sections of trail. Expect a moderate to strenuous hike on parts of each trail due to steep ups (and downs). In between the big hills are gradual changes in elevation for more of an easy to moderate hike... however, we typically hike at a fairly brisk pace (approximately 3+ mph) which could increase the level of difficulty for some... (and with all of the recent rain, expect mud).
Let's meet at the Pine Lane Trailhead at 10:30 a.m. The driveway entrance is on Rte. 303, east of Akron-Peninsula Rd. There is a sign at the road... and restrooms are available at the parking lot.
