We'll meet at the Oak Hill Picnic Area at 10:30 a.m. to hike 5 miles of the Oak Hill & Plateau Trails through fields, woods, and ponds. (OK... not actually through the ponds... :-)
These are nice trails that run through a pleasantly varied landscape. The Park Service rates them as moderate to difficult (there is a steep uphill midway)... with an easier section warm up the first mile or so at a brisk pace. (We typically travel this at 3 mph which is not a leisurely hike speed).
The parking lot entrance is located at 3901 Oak Hill Rd... that is south of Rt. 303, west of Riverview Rd., and runs between Major Rd. & Wheatley/Everett Rd. in Peninsula.
*Please check the maps below... and note the route in order to be able travel at your own pace, if you so choose... regardless of your location on the trail. As always, hike at your own risk.
See you there!
(Route: After crossing the bridge from the parking lot, we'll turn right and follow Oak Hill Trail (always staying right at intersections) until the Meadowedge Pond sign – where we'll veer left... and follow Plateau Trail back to the parking lot).
