Anyone interested in getting together at one of the local wineries over the winter months?

Good idea, Gloria! How about a hike followed by lunch at a winery? Debonne or Ferrante's? Maybe a Saturday after New Year's?

I spotted this info on Beaty Landing recently. Let's see about doing an event here in the spring. Paddle or hike with a potluck in the shelterhouse? Will look for a few volunteers to help out. "Visitors can enjoy low-impact recreational activities such as picnicking, hiking and fishing at this park. Improvements include a parking lot, restroom and a mile-long loop trail with a scenic overlook and three access points to the Grand River.

A new entrance drive and larger parking lot is now open, providing additional access to the Grand River. Future plans include a canoe/kayak launch.

Beaty Landing safeguards land for the Grand River valley’s wildlife, including nesting bald eagles about two miles upstream, nesting and migrating songbirds that utilize the deep, cool valley of the Grand River, and a variety of mammals, insects and invertebrates that use the river."

Not sure if anyone is interested but I'm heading to the carolinas to paddle at outer banks then sparkleberry swamp the last week of this year.

Hi Rob. I was thinking of joining you, but my brother and his wife are coming up here that week from Florida. I have tentative plans to visit them in March and am thinking of taking my boat and doing some paddling down there afterward. If it all comes together I'll post something with NEOK to see whether anyone wants to join me for the paddling portion. It is pretty iffy right now.

Sounds nice, Rob. I love the Outer Banks. Would be a great place to paddle.
