  • Cross Country Skiing or Snow Shoeing at Odiorne State Park Rye NH

    With all the new snow on the Seacoast let's have our first event this year as a local leisurely warm up. Feel free to bring SnowShoes, Cross Country Skis or whatever you have for ventureing into the snow. We'll explore many of the trails throughout Odiorne which are wonderful for winter snow sport activities. After our jaunt in and around the Park we'll head to Atlantic Grill for late lunch and beverages. Odiorne Point State Park offers one of the most beautiful natural settings along New Hampshire's coastline. Within the 135-acre seaside park, visitors can enjoy miles of trails. While the park is an ideal location for seaside outdoor recreation, the property is also renowned for its diverse natural history. Seven distinct natural habitats can be visited in a leisurely hour's walk. Although the spectacular rocky shore is the most popular part of Odiorne, the woodlands, uplands, salt marsh, freshwater and salt ponds, and sandy beach combine to create one of the region's most diverse nature walk areas. We'll meet inside the park at the parking lot in front of the Seacoast Science Center. Please try to arrive a little before noon so that we can head out at noon.     Cyndi & I plan to attend the 6pm showing of this Warren Miller Ski movie on Tuesday November 22nd.   • Mountain Bike or Hike at Maudslay State Park Newburyport MA

    Maudslay is a great place to mountain bike as well as hike and when the snow arrives xc-ski and snowshoe. Our plan is to explore the many trails at Maudslay on 2 wheels if you'd like or you can meander the trails on foot. See the attached trail map below There is a $5 MA registration $6 for out-of-state vehicle admission cost to the park that you put into a drop box. Please bring cash for the admission fee it does take plastic but not always working. We'll meet at the big parking lot at the Park Entrance on Curzon Mill Rd. Bring water and a snack to hydrate and energize and as always please dress for the weather conditions with hats, gloves etc. as the temp are forecasted for low 50s with possibility of some wind chill. Also bikers please bring and wear helmets. If you want to arrive earlier and meet us just come back to the trail across from the parking lot by 12:00 to re-group.   • Bike Ride on the Nashua River Bicycle/Recreation Trail

    Nashua River Trail

    I've been wanting to ride this bike path for a while and Sunday looks like a nice day to do it. We'll meet at the trail head parking lot close to 99 Gilson Rd at the intersection of Gilson Rd & Country Side Drive Nashua. We'll ride to Peperell MA and very likely beyond. This bike path is paved so any type of bicycle is fine. The ride will be at a leisurely pace with stops along the way for scenery. Description: The Nashua River Rail Trail is a beautiful and peaceful rural trail extending through the Massachusetts communities of Ayer, Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable. The trail continues into New Hampshire just south of the town of Nashua. In autumn it provides a spectacular platform for viewing the colorful changing leaves.   • Biking the Minuteman Bike Trail from Bedford Ma. to Lexington

    Cyndi & I plan to bike the Minuteman Bikeway starting from Bedford MA and welcome anyone who would like to join us on this leisurely mostly flat paved bike trail. Any type of bike is ok. We'll be on a Tandem that has just had some upgrades done and needs a test ride. We'll stop along route to enjoy the sites. The forecast is for chilly weather so dress warm. The Minuteman Bikeway passes through the historic area where the American Revolution began in April 1775. Today, the Minuteman Bikeway is one of the most popular and successful rail-trails in the United States, enjoyed for both healthy recreation and transportation. The bikeway has become a new type of “Main Street” where neighbors and strangers alike come together while riding, walking, or skating on the path. In 2008, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy inducted the Minuteman Bikeway into the national Rail-Trail Hall of Fame. NOTE: The Bikeway Source does rent bikes however if you plan on doing this please call them and arrive at least 1/2 hour earlier to insure you have your bike prior to the meet up.
