The Microsoft Bot Framework is a set of tools that let you create chatbots. A chatbot is a program that typically run in a messaging app, but are primarily conversational, rather than graphical. Searching the Web, reveals all the "Hellow World!" chatbots you can count - and they're all instructive as on-ramps, but practically useless. This presentation delves into an emerging set of tasks that all botmakers need to do. There are choices to be made around available ways to manage a conversation, how to customize the existing dialog types, and how to integrate natural language, via LUIS.ai. In the real world, we need to design chatbot applications so they perform well, scale, and are reliable - for this you'll learn about the Azure Bot Service. Since this isn't an intro, the on-ramp will be quick and anyone who wants to pick up the basics can visit Microsoft's Bot Framework site at https://dev.botframework.com/. I've also written a set of introductory blog posts at http://blog.botcontext.com/. Everyone is invited and your chatbot questions are welcome.
