Great place. Weather wasn't overbearing. Host Dennis Durgin was great. Met some nice people, learned a little bit and found some nice items. All in all a good day for my first dig. Thank you.

The mountain was good and quite accessible. The owner was very hospitable and prepared the site for some good searching. I was glad that I drove to the area the night before, and was rested. It is a gorgeous part of the world and worth the effort.

The colors were phenomenal....I broke my personal rule (as I always do) to simply follow Magneto White wherever he goes to fill those buckets with the loveliest crystals...Despite that rule break, I came home in love with the site and the booty I brought home....

more than that, I enjoyed tremendously meeting several of our newest NE Rockhounds...wish I had been collecting next to each of the group during the day. This is a fine group that seems to attract very interesting and open people....

Thank all you rockhounds, our gracious host and miner owner, Dennis Durgin, and Jodi from Maine Mineral Adventures.... for making this meetup a memorable one..

Not as far as I know. It's a 2 hour 15 min drive from my place so if anything I might stop by a Dunkin Donuts on the way.

I'm with Tom Dunkin Donuts for us. It's like a 4hr or so drive. Leaving like 4:30am or 0 dark 30. Safe travels to all, see you in Paris.

I guess I got to excited and missed the $50. I can't afford that. Sorry guys.

    July 4, 2013

  • Jill Perzley C.

We have over 8 people signed up so we qualify for the $10 discount. Cash only $50 per person ($40 for kid under 12). I have emailed Jodie to confirm our original agreed pricing.

CASH ONLY. In case some people don't show, bring $60 cash just in case group attendance drops below the 8 people required for discount.

This should be a great trip. Just show up at 9 am at the VFW in South Paris, ME.

It is rain or shine and you don't need 4 wheel drive to get to this one. You will be taking your own car.

      July 4, 2013

    • Lisa

Hi Tom, I figured it was rain or shine but for anyone new they might not be aware. Thanks for the info on the vehicle's. Nice to know it's a drive in site. Makes everything a little bit easier. We can't wait. Gd luck panning this weekend, maybe we can make the next trip.

I'm a newbie and am very interested in joining this trip. What would I need to bring? And where can I gat a rock hammer in Bangor, Me? How late in the day will the trip go, as i will be driving to/from the Bangor area.
Thanks so much for offering this.

Jill, I emailed Maine Mineral and they said they would supply the tools and to just bring a bucket and personal items. Is that not the case? Thanks, I'm really looking forward to this!

      July 3, 2013

    • Tom W.

I don't think they supply hammers....though I could be wrong about that. I know they supply rakes, shovels, and sifters. I generally just bring my own tools.

So we just pay that day? I'll be driving two hours from the Bangor area to meet you in South Paris and want to make sure this is certain!

    July 1, 2013

    • Lisa

I think that's what Jill said when we were talking about the trip last weekend in CT. Driving from RI, we have a 4 1/2 hour trip each way to attend.

      July 2, 2013

    • Jill Perzley C.

Payment is cash only. We qualify for their discount $50 per person. Just in case some folks don't show have $60 cash for trip. Looking forward to meeting you.

      July 3, 2013

  • Tom W.

Here's what you should bring: hammer and chisel, gardening tools: hand rake, trowel., bring a shovel and sifter if you plan on using one and bring something to carry your finds in. Bring whatever you think you'll end up using. For the most part you'll be diffing through piles of dirt/rock.

I believe we can stay till 3ish, but you can leave anytime before that.

    June 29, 2013

    • Tom W.

      that's digging* not diffing....

      June 29, 2013

  • Shelley K.

I am bringing my 12-year old son Victor. We are newbies and I would appreciate any clues on what we should bring, where we should stay, etc. Thanks!!! Shelley

You guys won't be disappointed. I went last year and found lots of beautiful beryl both aqua and golden. Also found some chunks of green and pink tourmalines.

I do hope you can make the trip. I can appreciate fluid schedules these days with moving, buying and selling homes...but home buyers will wait because I am bound and determined to get to Mt. Marie. I do hope I get a chance to meet you on that or another trip very soon.
