Mountainside Lavender Farm " RESCHEDULED "

Hello Ladies: I have good news and not so good news: Gigi and I went to Mountainside Lavendar Farms today. It is a beautiful setting. We went to see if they would let us in early on Saturday. When I called a few weeks ago, it wasn't a problem for then, but for this Saturday because they are having the Lavendar Festival, they were not willing to open early this week. So my suggestion is to meet at New Season's Market at 8 am, have a little bite to eat and then carpool from there about 9:30 am. We really need to be there at the gate at exactly 10 am. There is an upper field where you can get the best pictures. We can park there too but we need to move quickly.

Mountainside Lavender Farm is in Hillsboro in Washington County one of our themes for the exhibit next year! Lets go see what they have for us to experience!

Check them out on their website: http://www.mountainsidelavender.com/

Mountainside Lavender is a small family-run farm nestled in the hillside of Chehalem Mountain in the community of Scholls, Oregon. We have over 2000 lavender plants representing more than 20 varieties of both French and English lavenders in several colors (white, pink and shades of purple). We open our farm to the public for U-pick in early-June and continue through the month of July, and sometimes into August. Visitors can enjoy spectacular mountain views of Mount Hood, St. Helens, Rainier, the Coast Range and the surrounding countryside while immersed in the splendid aroma of our purple fields.

Basically from New Seasons, we can take Cedar Hills Blvd to Farmington, go right and take that to Hillsboro Highway and turn left. Check your gps or google map though for better directions. We can caravan in a couple of cars from New Season's Market also

The address is for Mountainside Lavendar Farm is 17805 SW Hillsboro Highway
Hillsboro, OR 97123

We had a great time and the farm is quite nice. It probably has better view in different seasons.

In case anyone is not sure where we are meeting for breakfast before the Lavendar Farm, it is at New Season's Market 3495 SW Cedar Hills Blvd. Beaverton, OR 97005. This is 20 from the Lavender farm!

Deri, do you mean you won't be meeting at New Seasons but will meet us at the Lavender Fields?

    July 13, 2012

  • Meghavi S.

yes that was earlier...im planning on going to it again, but i'll be going to the one at Fort Stevens. That's their big one...and then i can swing by the beach;)

Thank you for the link to the Civil War reenactment schedule. I went to the one at Willamette Mission State Park on July 2nd and took some photos. It was the first Civil War reenactment I'd ever been to, and I'm really glad I went! Took some b&w and color film shots.

I think the Ladies had this conflict when this meetup was orginially scheduled last month! Thank though! Now I can try to go a Civil War Reenactment!

In regards to those who have a conflict because of the Civil War reenactments there are several other events throughout the summer. We usually attend the one at McIver Park just outside of Estacada. Here is a link to their full schedule: http://www.nwcwc.org/events.html

I think I have the correct address for the New Seasons... 3495 SW Cedar Hills Boulevard. If this is not the correct address, please let me know. I will plan to be there by 9:15am to leave at 9:30am on Saturday.

Details have change because we cannot get in until 10am. I am suggesting meeting at New Season's at Cedar Crossing and then carpool from there. Any questions, call me or email me.

    July 12, 2012

  • Rae Lynn N.

Okay, peopel could go to both of the Lavendar fields if they choose.

    July 6, 2012

  • Heidi G.

I would chose instead of the Gorge.

    July 6, 2012

  • Rae Lynn N.

Should I reschedule this event for the 15th of July at the same time as the other lavendar fields in the Gorge or instead?

    July 5, 2012

  • Rae Lynn N.

Okay, I have a problem. I orginally shceduled this meetup earlier because it is in Washington County and I wanted us to be able shoot here before the deadline for photos. Second I have a regularly scheduled bookclub meeting at 10 in Beaverton, and finally we have already scheduled a community room for the exhibit meeting later that day. I feel there are things we need to cover that day and don't think the Lavendar fields are a good place to have a meeting.

Had to change my RSVP to no. I'll be at Trillium Lake that weekend, with my kayak. I'll be looking forward to the beautiful photos.

  • Betty D.

Will we be able to turn in our photos for the Group Exhibit at this meetup?

    June 28, 2012

  • Lori H.

I agree. I think we should reschedule.

    June 28, 2012

  • Heidi G.

Seeing that it's not going to be sunny and the fields are not fully in bloom, I agree we should reschedule.

    June 28, 2012

  • Betty D.

*Oh, just thinking....if the group was interested in a later date - perhaps this could be the location for our July 21st meetup (and last day to turn in images for the exhibition)?

    June 27, 2012

  • Betty D.

I noticed the forecast as well - at the moment it's looking like overcast and 60% chance of rain...but as you said, that can change. I would be interested in a date later in July :)

I'm wondering if we should reschedule this for the end of July which is more typically lavender season. The forecast is also calling for rain but that's still a few days away. What does everyone think?

    June 27, 2012

  • Betty D.

I think I will wait till a little further into July to give the color a chance to come out more.

    June 27, 2012

  • Patricia M.

We called and asked about the blooms and they said there isn't much color yet.

I'll be at this meetup but probably won't make it by 8am. I'll be there closer to 9:00 but I hope the lavender is blooming and we have lots to photograph. We could go to breakfast after if anyone has suggestions, not sure what is in the area.

    June 26, 2012

  • Rae Lynn N.

The lady said there is plenty of parking. Hope you gets some good weather and color too.

    June 24, 2012

  • Meghavi S.

I meant to go last year, but never got around to it.

    June 23, 2012

  • Stacy O

Thank Meghavi for adding the info. I've never been to such an event and am going because I anticipate there will be a numerous photo opportunities. I hope to see you there!

    June 23, 2012

  • Meghavi S.

I Ellen. I think I posted it under discussions a while back... I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

Can anyone give me info on the Civil War Re-enactment?

    June 23, 2012

  • Meghavi S.

I'm also planning on the civil war enactment

    June 23, 2012

  • Deri D.

I might go for the Civil war reinactment and go to the Lavender festival in a few weeks instead. There is usually more Lavender in bloom during that time period....

I am not sure I can be at this meetup with the time change. I would also like to have the lavender more in bloom. This spring/summer needs to warm up!!

    June 23, 2012

  • Stacy O

Tough Call: Lavendar farm with all of you or Civil War Enactment with different group. Ultimately decided the Enactment will offer more varied photo ops, but I sure will miss being with you women!

    June 23, 2012

  • Rae Lynn N.

Hello Ladies, I will not be at this meetup as I will be in California. Gigi will also be out-of-town. Therefore we will not be able to accept photos for the exhibit this day. We need to extend the deadline for the 1st photo. I will send out an email to this effect!
