Join us on Cooperative 518 Community Farm for a fun filled day of learning, eating and community building opportunities.
We will have a few workshops throughout the day and you can choose to join us for all of them, or pop in and out as you please. We have a suggested donation rate for the day, and then individual suggested donations for each workshop.
1) YOGA WITH LAUREN (Suggested donation $15)
No one is "good" or "bad" at yoga. Yoga isnt about what you can physically do but why and how you do it. This class will include gentle movement, breathing exercises and meditation held outside on the Co-op 518 Farm. All levels of experience are welcome. Focus on healing, relaxing and discovering the beauty, joy and strength within. Dress comfortably and weather appropriate. A limited number of mats will be available to borrow. Please bring your own mat if you can.
2) OUR PLAYFUL NATURE (Suggested donation $15)
Join Chris Moran of Our Playful Nature for a unique “fitness” experience that will have you laughing and smiling instead of groaning and grunting. Chris’s approach is based on play, in which fitness is merely a side effect, not an objective. You’ll (re)learn how to see the natural world through the eyes of a child, where a tree branch is something to hang on, a log something to balance on, the grass something to crawl or roll on, and a friend someone to play with. When we connect with our bodies, our environment, and our peers, we achieve a new level of nourishment. Looking forward to playing with you all!
3) FARM TASTING TOUR(Suggested donation $20)
Join Alec Gioseffi on a farm tasting tour through our farm where we will discuss the concepts of rotational grazing, companion planting, maximizing space in the garden, on contour swale and keyline cultivation construction, Integrated Pest Managment and beneficial insects, food forest and more. We will also be sampling the vegetables as we walk through the farm.
4) FORAGING PLANT WALK (Suggested donation $20)
5) POTLUCK DINNER AND FIRE SOCIAL
If you plan on staying for the potluck, please bring a dish to share. Local, seasonal and organic dishes preferred. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PLATE, CUP AND UTENSILS.
