Tech vs. Wild with Chuck La Tournous - Email Encryption - Podcast Websites

If you think that all you need for camping is a backpack, tent, some food, water, and pocket knife then it's time to join the 21st century. Come join us as Mac Observer Contributing Editor, publisher, and former NJMUG member, Chuck La Tournous gives a fun, fast-paced look at the gadgets that can turn you into a high tech version of Mick Dodge.

From how to turn your iPhone into a Swiss Army knife and full featured GPS receiver, purify water with a beam of light, and charge your gear with using the sun or fire, Chuck will talk about all the gear you can take with you to enhance your next camping trip.

Our second presenter of the evening will be Jerry Glacken who will give a demonstration on how to encrypt and secure your email communications using GPG. From installation, creating and distributing keys, encrypting, decrypting, and signing, Jerry will show you everything you need to know to keep your email communications private.

And finally, Louis Perez will give another installment of his ongoing "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" which showcases a collection of interesting Web sites related to a particular topic. This month's "tour" will focus on the "Top Podcast Web sites".

So come on out and join us for a great night of fun and learning.

Great presentation by Chuck LaTournous on "Tech vs. Wild". From using your iPhone as an emergency beacon, handheld water purifying devices, using hydrogen generators, portable solar panels, and fire to charge your portable devices, rugged protective gear, etc. Chuck showed off quite the collection of gadgets for any high tech outdoorsman. All I can say is "Sorry" to those who missed this one!
