The Rheinsteig is a hiking trail, following a mainly elevated path along the east bank of the Rhine River in Germany. Its 320 kilometres route stretches from Bonn to Wiesbaden, in the scenic Rhineland region. This walking holiday follows the best section of the "Rheinsteig", a fully waymarked trail that follows the course of the River Rhine upstream. Enjoy dreamy walking through romantic countryside, famous for its castles, vineyards, culture, history, nature and landscapes.
Dramatic castles perched high above the Rhine are frequent along the route. You also pass the world famous Lorelei, a dramatic rock formation where legend has it a siren would lure sailors to their doom. During the walking day, you can enjoy stops at rural wine cellars and spend the evenings in a wide variety of quality restaurants to sample the culinary delights the region is justifiably famous for. What more could you want?
Hiking along the Rheinsteig is remarkably easy due to the excellent signposts, but you'll still work up a sweat: the steep climbs and varying gradients are both a challenge and a pleasure. Famous for its unique landscapes, picturesque towns, castles and vineyards the Rheinsteig will take your breath away with its stunning views.
