Swift discussion

Monthly meeting at thoughtbot. Bring your projects to work on, or bring your expertise! Food and drinks will be provided.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the WWDC announcements last week and have been checking out the session videos.  There is a lot of new things to be excited about and Swift might be on top of that list.  There will be no formal workshop for the next event but instead let's have a round table discussion about Swift.  We can look at code from Apple samples or code people have written themselves and discuss language topics.  If you haven't yet, grab Xcode 6 Beta and play around with Swift.

Come with questions or curiosity and we'll dive in.

Thanks to Thoughtbot for the hospitality. BTW, the source code on the group's homepage is fairly objective, but out of date.

Hey, for what it's worth, Udemy is offering a one-day discount on their Swift course, offering it for $29 vs. regular price of $199. Anyone have good experience with Udemy? https://www.udemy.com/swift-learn-apples-new-programming-language-by-examples/?couponCode=SWIFT29

Based on historical evidence, when might Xcode 6 be released so that Swift apps can be submitted to App Store? Is everyone switching Swiftly for new projects?

    • Darion M.

You can download Xcode 6 already and create a swift project.

Presumably, you will be able to submit Swift projects when the Xcode GM ships to developers, which is usually a week or two before release, and the release will be sometime this fall.

As I said when I signed up, total beginner. I'd just like to come along and watch for now. Looking forward to it.
