What are your thoughts on Space Viking? Or as I will call mine, "Zombie Race in Outer Space"

What we talked about:

* one chapter per week
* meet up in two weeks, for chapters 3 and 4
* don't be shy, post your code on GitHub!
* $30 for texture packing software is not a bad deal

Here's my cocos2d-x (C++) source code:

Also, Xavier's cocos2d-powered YATA (Yet Another Taboo App):

See you all in two weeks! There will be a quiz (multiple choice + short answer) on animation and collision detection.

Aww, thanks for the plug Greg! There's also a free version if you'd like to check out the animation/transition effects c/o cocos2d. But if you're having a games night with friends, what's $1.99 for almost 800 cards? And more coming up with Valentine's just around the corner! <end shameless plug>

Oh yeah, made it to the other meetup as well; it kinda emptied out by then but managed to meet an iOS dev. Cool beans.

Free version? As my sister tells me, "don't give us promo codes (or link to the free version)...make us BUY the app!" ;)

If iOSTO ever picks a non-conflicting date, I would like to check it out some time.

I tried getting the Chapter2/3 code up and running using Cocos2D 2.0 but I'm finding the images are off center. Has anyone else encountered this?

edit: has to do with orientation. Still haven't solved it but I'll post the code when I'm done.

edit2: Ok, I'm rethinking converting the books code to 2.0. It's taking far too much time that I'd rather spend on learning Cocos2D! Maybe when we get a few more chapters in i'll look at this again? For now I'm sticking to 1.0.

For Chapter 2, with Cocos2D 2.0, my image for Figure 2.6 was ok. But after I added the joystick and buttons etc, the entire program can't build anymore. It fails at the code inside JoystickClasses folders (ColoredCircleSprite.m and ColoredSquareSprite.m in particular). Do you know if that's because I am using Cocos2D 2.0 (instead of the 1.0)? Is there a JoystickClasses directory that works for V2.0?

Anyone running to this problem using Cocos2D 2.0? Thanks.

Found this on the web: http://www.cocos2d-ip...
I followed the suggestions and commented the lines for now... but not sure what functionality is broken/missing not having those lines.

More useful info... seems like I am the only one got stuck on using Cocos2D V2.0.... ;-)

I downloaded the joystick classes from GitHub just to make sure I was using the latest.

I've got it working, you can find my code here:
