This month, Karol will be presenting 2 talks related to authentication mechanisms:
- The Authentication Jungle: An overview of all sorts of authentication technologies
- Hardware-based Cryptography: Smart cards, YubiKeys & more
The first talk will be a high-level overview of different authentication technologies. After some authentication basics, we will look at (among other things): Multifactor authentication, OTP, Kerberos, SAML, OpenID Connect, U2F, WebAuthn, etc. The goal is to differentiate those technologies from each other, not necessarily to deep dive into each of those. We can still do so in follow-up discussions.
The second talk is about hardware-based cryptography. This will be mostly about smart cards and YubiKeys and what functionality and advantages they provide. Some real-world demonstations will show how they can be used in everyday life.
