How has NVC made a difference in your life?

In 2005, I began learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC) through participation in practice groups and a year long training program at Bay NVC. I continue this work through teaching communication practice and participation in a men's empathy group in north Oakland. On my first encounter with NVC (listening to recorded talks by Marshall Rosenberg) I knew immediately that this was a way to more fully understand and develop the practice of Right Speech, one of the elements of the Buddhist eightfold path. By using this approach to communication, I have found a wonderful way to offer myself more fully to my family and community(s).

What kind of NVC training & experience have you had?

Weekly practice group meetings - 2 years. BayNVC committed non-violent practitioner program -1 year (2008), weekly mediation practice group (6 months), bi-monthly men's empathy group - 3 years.
