What Hike Club is This?: The NOVA Hiking Club for Dog Lovers Meetup does pretty much all of its hikes with the Northern Virginia Hiking Club (NVHC), see www.NVHC.com (http://www.nvhc.com/) for more info.

Hike Rating: This hike is RATED LEVEL D. Hike rating is based on both the linear distance and elevation change with 400 feet of climbing considered equivalent to 1 mile linear distance. The ratings are:

A=Difficult (greater than 13 miles)
B=Moderately Difficult (10-13 miles)
C=Moderate (7-10 miles)
D=Easy (less than 7 miles)

Hike Description: Approx. 4 miles out-and-back hike. We will start on the C&O Canal Towpath and go towards the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center. We will stop to visit the Great Falls Overlook. At the Tavern, we will turn around and go back, this time taking a detour on Berma Road.

Meeting Place with Driving Directions/Address: Meet in the dirt parking lot across from Old Angler’s Inn and look for the hike leader who will have a balloon. The address for Old Angler's Inn is 10801 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac, MD. Tip: parking is limited and usually fills up very early in the morning, so you are encouraged to do your best to get there early.

Other Costs: NVHC asks non-NVHC members to pay a guest hike fee of $2.

Children: Children are welcome on this hike so long as they are accompanied by their parent/guardian.

Pets: Your dog is required to be on a six foot or shorter leash at all times. Please remember to bring water for your dog.

Weather Policy: Hikers should contact the Hike Leader before going to the meeting place when conditions are questionable. The hike leader may cancel or modify the hike if weather, trail, or driving conditions are dangerous. If the hike is cancelled at the very last minute, such as due to really bad weather, the Hike Leader may not be at the meeting location.

Hike Leader: The NVHC Hike Leader is Audrey Roh. The phone # for the Hike Leader is usually emailed out to the list of attendees a day or two before the hike.
