Got this message from Luke Coordinator Yamhill Watershed Council. Good opportunity to get training on doing a Steelhead Spawning Survey for Wild Winter Steelhead that use the Yamhill River watershed. Then in Oct we will be doing the Coho Spawning Survey.
We will meet in the room all the way in the back to the left. The main room is already reserved.
Thank you for your support of the volunteer-led Yamhill fish spawning survey program.
A training event and presentation for winter steelhead surveys will be held next Thursday, April 3rd from 7-9pm at the Chehalem Senior Center in Newberg , sponsored by the Newberg Chapter Association of NW Steelheaders, Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, and the Greater Yamhill Watershed Council.
ODFW district fish biologist, Tom Murtagh, will teach us about the local endangered winter steelhead population and how to survey for evidence of their spawning in the Yamhill Watershed. On-the-ground surveying by volunteers will follow in later April and early May.
Can’t make this one? Not a problem. Stay tuned for our October 2014 Coho salmon training event and Nov/Dec on-the-ground surveys.
Feel welcome to share this invite with others and to contact the GYWC for more information.
