Our guest speaker this month will be Ed Wickersham who is the Committee Chair of the Columbia River Endorsement Committee. This topic is very controversial and will be great to finally get some answers straight from the source. As we all know, the CRE was introduced back in 2009 and outline specific plans and goals. The main vision was:
“The department shall create and administer a Columbia riverrecreational salmon and steelhead pilot stamp program. The program must facilitate continued and, to the maximum extent possible, improved recreational salmon and steelhead selective fishing opportunities on the Columbia river and its tributaries by supplementing the resources available to the department to carry out the scientific monitoring and evaluation, data collection, permitting, reporting, enforcement, and
other activities necessary to provide such opportunities.”
Whether that actually happened or not is debatable. But Ed will be at next weeks meeting to share his side of the story and answer any questions you might have! The full CRE Senate Bill can be found below for reference.
As always our meetings are FREE and open to the public. Grab a friend and join us for a great evening. We will be having our usual membership raffle, gear raffle, and also Lamiglas rod raffle.
