Winter Social and (FREE!) Movie “Elevation”.

  • Jan 27, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Hi all, I closed RSVP's.  I called Basecamp to let them know we had a big bunch coming and they said it would be first come first serve and they have a 98 person capacity.  So, there is a chance that the pub could be full and not allow any more folks in.  So, you should probably plan on getting there early!  I'm going to be there at 6:00 pm to try to save some seats..

Winter Social and (FREE!) Movie “Elevation”..

It’s been a while since we’ve had a NW Wilderness social event.  Now is as good a time as any!

Base Camp Brewing is having a free showing of “Elevation” by Powderwhore Productions.  According to
the trailer, Elevation is an awesome movie of extreme backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering  including various locations in the Cascades, Mt. Rainier, Oregon’s Wallowa mountains, the Teton Range in Wyoming, and other places too!

Here is some info on the Location and the movie:

The 1 hour movie starts at 7:00 pm, so try to be
there about 6:30 pm or so.  The movie is
FREE and happy hour prices run all day on Mondays for food and adult beverages!  The food is available for order at the bar
and is provided fresh by local food carts “Gonzo Falafel and Humus” a top notch
Middle Eastern food cart and “Pizza Box”, a local pizza cart.

Standard event info:

DISTANCE: Depends on how far away you live.

LOCATION: Base Camp Brewing, 930 SE Oak Street, at the corner of SE Oak and SE 9th.

ELEVATION GAIN AND LOSS (approx): 6 feet elevation gain from sidewalk to to pub door

PACE: Slow be safe

DIFFICULTY RATING: Too much for most of us, but not for the folks in the movie.

ESTIMATED T  RAIL TIME:  No time on the trail.

******** IMPORTANT ********

CARPOOLING: None needed.  Just get to the location as you please.

RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK; WE (I) do not deem a driver or vehicle safe.

Thanks Dave for hosting this. Going to new brew places is one way to spend a Monday night.

It was a little weird, seeing myself on film, skiing down those chutes! (err...I'm kidding.) Like Juergen said, it was nice to see everyone.

This is the third of my meetup groups that has posted this event. If you haven't already, you should call the bar and let them know that a large number of people from your group are coming so that they have enough staff on hand.

The other two groups are both women's outdoor groups :-)

Actually, I spoke to them this morning. They have a 98 seat capacity, first come, and if it's wildly successful, maybe they'll offer it again in February.

@Dave - the event pace listed above seems very reasonable! ;) Will the event will finish in the dark? Headlamps? ;)

Craig. Yes, this event will finish in the dark. Everyone should be sure to have headlights. In fact, everyone should have TAILLIGHTS too!
