1 Night at Tyee Lodge, Mt Hood

Let's head up to Mt Hood on Saturday and spend the night in the Tyee Lodge, returning Sunday.  There are a lot of snowshoe trails near by and a fabulous  sledding hill.  Fees are $25 for the lodge, including breakfast and dinner.

Please email me if you would like to attend so we can discuss logistics.  Needed- someone willing to drive with snow tires and chains.

Please bring: $25 cash or check for lodge fees, $11 cash for carpool driver and contribution to snow pass.  Sleeping bag, extra layers, extra socks and gloves, snowshoes or cross country skis, gators, extra snacks/special food, water/water bottle, book. Always good to have the 10 essentials.  Also, you can sleep inside the lodge or try out your winter gear outisde and feel free to come in if not warm enough!

The picture above is not Tyee, but it looks similar!  The Tyee lodge is about .25 miles from the turn off to Timberline.  It is owned and maintained by the Oregon Trails Club.   It is a great location to spend a lot of time outdoors and provides a beautiful place to get insde and get warm.

PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK: I assume no liability for your safety getting to or from the trailhead or on the hike. In case of accident, illness, or other incapacity, hikers must pay for their own medical and/or evacuation expenses, whether or not the hiker has specifically authorized them.

Hazards include, but not limited to: freezing rain, hypothermia, frostbite, blisters.

Drive: approx. 60 miles one-way, 1.5 hrs (depending on traffic).
Vehicle: Traction tires or devices required, 4 wheel drive recommended.
Fees: OR or WA Snopark permit.
Permit: None

I wish I could take more people. There are only 4 spots. I'm asking those who signed up to let me know asap if they can attend or not. I can ask the trails club if we can bring more people, but they have very strict rules.

Hi everyone. I'm hoping that I can carpool w/someone or I won't be able to go. I think I have stayed there w/some trails club people. I can help pay for gas to carpool.

If you rent in Portland, both Mtn shop and next adventure do multiday rentals which include 2 nights, 3 days. Good deal-like $15.

Well, you'll be warmer than those of us snow camping that night! I've stayed at Tyee and it's a great retreat after a day in the snow.
