Battle of Prairie Grove Re-enactment 12:00 Saturday Dec 1st
The park commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Prairie Grove by hosting Arkansas’s largest battle reenactment in even-numbered years during the first weekend of December. Activities include guided tours through Union, Confederate and civilian camps; military drills conducted by reenactors; cooking, spinning and lace-making demonstrations; and living history programs. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. each day, battle demonstrations feature charges and counterattacks by Union and Confederate infantry and cavalry on the actual battlefield near the historic Borden House. The battle reenactment is on some of the same ground the armies fought over during the skirmish, which includes the Borden House and valley below. The hillside is used as a natural amphitheater for viewing it. Seeing the battle unfold before your eyes on the ground the men fought and died for is one of the best ways to obtain a true sense of the Civil War and the Battle of Prairie Grove. What we're about

This is a group for folks ages 50+ who are ready to start having fun again. Kids are gone? Work is finished? Time to enjoy yourself. Anyone can post and/or host an event. Can be something as simple as a hike or bike ride or more elaborate like a weekend excursion. Any event that you want to share and attend with others can be posted. There can be multiple events on the same day. The goal is to spread the word about activities in the area and know that you can find a friend (or meet a new friend) from this group when you get there. No pressure - attend what you want, when you want, if you want.

To cover administrative costs of Meetup, there is an annual membership fee of $5 (60 day free trial).
