Re: [NY-HTML5-User-Group] JOBS or NO JOBS...

Hi Nicole

Can you explain how my comments are in poor taste?

I'm a freelance developer for many years. I've worked with countless legit recruiters. The good ones never ever use dev lists as a recruitment platform.

Do recruiters attend meetings?

As the recruiter who posted a gig today on your discussion board I would like to first apologize if it ruffled feathers and state that we are merely trying to let developers know of work possibilities and that there are open gigs out there if they are looking for work. We have worked with some of your members over the years and assisted them in finding work. 1e provide a service while making a living. When I post I always enter the words JOB or GIG before posting so that it can easily be ignored and not read if not interested. It is no doubt self serving since we make a living from recruiting and placing candidates I do however find Marc's comments about recruiters rather insulting and in poor taste. The reason we are not using boards like Monsters and Career Builder is simply because we do not find the level of quality applicants specific boards like yours provide. I do thank Maria for understanding what it is all about and Frank for allowing our postings
Peace

Subject: [NY-HTML5-User-Group] JOBS or NO JOBS...

Seems we are split down the middle on JOBS posts or NO JOBS posts...

I certainly understand both sides.  Personally I'm seeing Meetup (and to a degree LinkedIn) turn into recruiter pens, but I want this to be a group decision.

How about we relegate JOB posts to our message board and disallow them to our mailing list?

Frank
