If sure feels like everyone you know is in Austin having a great time. But while they are partying and "networking" with the best at SXSW, some of us are here in New York making stuff happen on our own. If you feel like getting some solid technical expertise under your belt, there are a few Skillshare classes this week some people might find interesting.
This is the second time this course is taught. The first class filled up in 2 days, so I'm teaching it again. This class is filled with demos and covers a wide range of topics in caching. You'll learn popular tools like memcached, varnish, as well as some of the strategies and philosophies behind each case.
If you are fairly new to Rails, this is a great course. Taught by Aidan Feldman from Hacker Hours, this class covers topics like setting up RVM, creating models beyond using Scaffolding, etc.
Machine Learning in 2 hours
This is a introductory course for those curious in machine learning. The best part is: there will be lots of examples and you will walk away with your very own machine learning algorithm in 2 hours. Taught by Matt Deland, data scientist from Hyperpublic (now part of groupon)
All of the proceeds of these classes will be donated to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center.
