The Parking lot is located on the south side of Route 117 approximately halfway between Route 9A to the East and Route 9 to the West. There are gates and stone walls at the entrance, a large horse-trailer parking lot, a little toll booth, a visitors center and a bathroom building.

HIKING GUIDELINES FOR EARLY OUTS AND GETTING SEPARATED. If at anytime you need for us to make a necessary stop, the leader will accommodate you. Also, if for any reason you need to bail out early, the leader will tell you the quickest and easiest way out. It is everybody's responsibility to make sure they are in eyesight of the group. Do not assume you know the route we are taking, leaders often alter the route. If you get left behind because you are picking berries, taking photographs, or looking for UFO's that was your decision and the group should not have to pay for your decision, in those cases you are on your own.  Always keep your cell phone with you and the group leaders phone number.  If lost or separated, you should call him for assistance and to check in.

Liability Waiver: This is a fun and interesting group of people that enjoy hiking and socializing, it is not organized by a professional hiker.

Enjoyed the walk a lot Ted. The TV production and shooting gave things a slightly chaotic look, but you handled it well. Wow! to all the equipment and staff involved in a shoot like that. And while they could have been like "a bull in a china shop," they seemed pleasant, respectful and organized. Nice seeing people from past hikes and meeting a few new ones (new to me that is). Sorry the Boat Club destination you had for the after get together was closed, but then I'm glad I went with the 50% of me that wanted to go do some errands on my list. See you soon for another walk I hope.

So what happens when you have a full moon - I pull into the parking lot to find it full with trailers, cars and trucks for the shooting of a TV episode of "The Blacklist". Ok we work with the film crew and the park manager on where to park 30+ cars. Kudos to the park staff and the film crew for their fleability. Thanks Elsie and James for your help and to everybodies cooperation. Then I check to see what trails are blocked for the shooting and reroute the hike. After the hike we went to Wash. Irv. Bt Clb. only to find out it was closed because of the weather. On the bright side we had a large group and everybody was super cooperative. Early outers did about 4.4 miles, late group did a hillier end route with a total of about 5 miles. Elvira and I went to check out the boathouse in Ossining as a potential post hike social location - Rolande thank you for this reccomendation - we will probably try it out next week.

Very pleasant hike. Great hike improvisation by Ted due to unexpected movie production. The hike stats were also very good: 4.7 miles, with a rate of 18:16 per mile or 3.3 MPH and an impressive elevation gain of 564 feet. This activity is estimated to have burned 496 calories.

Today's hike - nice temperatures for walking. Today we are not concerned about the sun/temps - so more out in the open. Route is a bit on the hilly side, unless I feel the humidity is to high.
