Barry Stephens from Zehnder America (also an area native - he's originally from Syracuse) will be discussing the challenge of providing proper ventilation in high-performance building scenarios, and how to achieve great results.
Barry will guide us through a discussion of how HRV's and ERV's actually operate. This will cover counter-flow, cross-flow and enthalpy wheels, as well as types of fans/motors, insulation of casings, and the engineering.
Then we'll discuss Passive House testing in order to understand how different designs impact energy efficiency. The use of this testing data will show how architects, designers, contractors and builders can specify the best equipment for their project. The final section of the presentation will cover the installation, commissioning, and operation of these systems, and its impacts on efficiency.
