NYC Area Friends of JRR Tolkien & Fantasy Message Board NYC Area Friends of Tolkien & Fantasy Discussion Forum › A SONG OF ICE & FIRE CONVENTION

The first ever US-based convention that is entirely Song of Ice & Fire/Game of Thrones themed is being held April 26-28, 2013, at Ravenwood Castle in New Plymouth, Ohio. Basically, we have planned a weekend where fans of the book and TV series can get together and participate in everything from discussion panels to gaming (the board game and even the RPG, if enough people are interested in the latter) to a costume contest, plus several other fun activities :)

Basic information can be found at our website - http://iceandfirecon.... - and there is a contact button on the left side of the page that sends emails directly to the main convention address, iceandfirecon (at) gmail (dot) com.

Oh, darn. Why not here?? Why, why, why?? All this kind of stuff used to happen in NY. It seems we get very little now. Arrrghgh.

On that note.....anyone going to Ohio?

Mr. Martin is presently not expected to be at that SOIF con. However, he is the guest of honor at Capclave this fall and be there to talk with fans all weekend. See http://www.capclave.o... the weekend of October 11 - 13. Location: Hilton Washington DC North/Gaithersburg,
620 Perry Parkway, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877
The hotel is easily to get to by taking Amtrak from NY Penn to Washington, DC and thence the Metro (nice modern subway train) to Shady Grove where the free hotel shuttle will complete the last mile.

Well, that's something to try to get to. This one isn't that far from NYC.

Funny, I know Sharyn November from another forum totally unrelated to fantasy.
