In the landscape of product design, many design teams are transitioning from traditional design silos to cross-functional teams. Critical design decisions are made by designers, engineers, product managers, senior leadership, and everyone in between.

Understanding your individual role, as well as the roles of each person on your team, is fundamental for both personal and product success.

For the past 16 years, I’ve worked in the creative department of many different companies, from advertising to tech, small to large, print to digital. Each time, I’ve had to reframe my thinking on how to work best with the team, based on the needs of the company and the business.

We will discuss how to:

• Embrace your position on the team and your relationship with other team members
• Understand who you’re talking to, and how to align your skills with their goals
• Know who to listen to and why
