July Meetup -- Religious Communities for Divestment & Reinvestment

Our June meetup was a great success, with the best attendance of any yet!

We agreed that there would be two "asks" of group members for July:

1.  Review the materials available online for GreenFaith's Divest & Reinvest Now! campaign:

2.  Work on a divest & reinvest "elevator pitch," i.e., your 2-3 minute verbal summary of why someone (from your own congregation, for example) should support a divestment & reinvestment effort.  We will try out our elevator pitches on each other!

I have changed this to a no because it seems I may be leaving town that day. Summer s a tough time to have these talks. I am going on another mini retreat in August to such a community that is implementing many of these steps. I will have richer content to give in the Fall. Steve thank you.

Religious communities everywhere are living out their call to protect Creation by organizing to divest their endowments and pension funds from fossil fuel holdings, and reinvesting in a clean energy future. This group welcomes members of all faith traditions who want to learn more about how their congregations can mitigate the worst effects of climate change with a well-organized divestment and reinvestment strategy.
