Join us on a fun, interesting but fast paced sunset hiking tour of around 5-6 miles as we explore historic Vinegar Hill, Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park on this holiday weekend. There are always surprises along the way. I have led a shorter version of this event for the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC)-this event will be even better. On a number of occasions, before we get to Brooklyn Bridge Park, we will stop very briefly to talk about what we observe. There are many transformations taking place in these areas. There should be great waterfront views. THEN, the plan is to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge where we will finish near a major subway station. WALKING OVER THE BRIDGE IS OPTIONAL. IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO CONTINUE OVER THE BRIDGE, YOU WILL BE DONE AROUND 8:00 P.M. (Photo by Mili)
WE WILL HAVE A SHORT DINNER BREAK SO PLEASE BRING FOOD AND WATER. THIS GROUP DOES NOT GO SHOPPING FOR FOOD!
WE WILL BEGIN BEFORE 5:00 P.M. NOT TOO FAR FROM A SUBWAY STOP. BE READY TO GO.
I am going to request that everyone who attends this event make a monetary contribution but the amount of that donation is entirely up to you. Meetup charges an Organizer like me relatively little each month, although they did raise their rates slightly, but I spend much time and effort planning and preparing for an event. You can contribute whatever you want either at the beginning or the end of an event.
I am also going to ask that people not post any comments or questions prior to the event. You have more than enough information to do this once you get the meeting details. No offense, but I don’t need to know-and probably neither does anyone else- what you are doing that day if you can’t make it or what you think the weather will be. AFTER the event, post as many comments and photos as you like.
If the weather forecast is really bad, See Accuweather like I do, I will post a notice on the day of the hike by 12:00 P.M. If there is no notice, we go. We will finish around 9:30 p.m not too far from many subway stations. (depending on whether you walk over the Bridge).
