Summer Streets Hoop Jam: Week 3
Come hoop and play with us in Summer Streets! NYC is shutting down streets to make way for New Yorkers to have healthy fun - a bouldering wall, free bike rentals, walking tours, performance art, fitness and dance classes, yoga, guided food meditations, a dog park, interactive installation art, wheelchair basketball, historic reenactments, and much more, including a HOOP JAM that will be STATIONED NEAR THE ZIPLINE! WHEEEEEEE! This event IS FREE and will run for THREE consecutive Saturdays - August 4, 11, and 18. The Hoop Jam will be 11 am to 11:30 am at the Foley Square Rest Stop Performance Zone at Centre Street and Pearl Street. Come to one or all three of the jams! This is a family-friendly event - if you would like to bring an extra hoop to share with the public, that would be LOVELY! All flow arts are welcomed! See you there! Rain or shine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With nearly 7 miles of open streets and 5 rest stops, there is plenty to explore at Summer Streets. And remember, everything at Summer Streets is free! For a full list of programming and activities: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ABOUT SUMMER STREETS: Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. On three consecutive Saturdays in August, nearly seven miles of NYC's streets are opened for people to play, run, walk and bike. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. In 2016, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets. Held between 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City, allowing participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.
