ABOUT THE HOST

Your host Tom is a native New Yorker. He grew up in Brooklyn and has lived here most of his life. Tom has traveled extensively in Asia and Europe, and understands how difficult learning a new language can be.

Tom taught English pronunciation, writing, and conversational skills at NYC's International Center for many years. He has a degree in English from Pace University.

For more than twenty years, Tom has worked as a writer and editor for major magazines and websites. He now runs an ESL tutoring company ( https://www.tomstutoringnyc.com ).

This is NOT a language exchange. This group is designed exclusively for foreign-born adults who are learning English in the Greater New York City area.

We are not currently accepting new native English speakers for the group. Native English speakers must get approval in advance from the organizer before joining the group or participating in any events.

Organizers reserve the right to remove any member at its sole discretion.

Advanced English: TOEFL Workshop (Feb. 19th at 2:00 PM)

PREPARE FOR THE TOEFL TEST For many colleges and jobs, a good score on the TOEFL test is a requirement. How to best prepare for the exam? The test has four parts: reading, listening, speaking and writing in English. On Tuesday at 2:00 PM, join an exclusive group of students as we work together for two hours to prepare you for what to expect during the TOEFL test. We will focus on English questions as well as test strategy. The class is limited to ten (10) students. TO ATTEND, YOU MUST PURCHASE A TICKET IN ADVANCE. You will be taught by an English teacher with more than seven years of experience. He will teach you ways to improve how you prepare for taking a test in English.
