The Met is one of my favorite museums in New York City. And I love visiting the exhibits to relax, reflect, as well as practice my photography - especially the architecture and sculptures.
Subway: Take the 4, 5, or 6 train to 86th Street and walk three blocks west to Fifth Avenue. This walk is about a half mile and takes approximately ten minutes. Bus: Take the M1, M2, M3, or M4 bus along Fifth Avenue (from uptown locations) to 82nd Street or along Madison Avenue (from downtown locations) to 83rd Street. If you are driving to the museum, DO NOT use the meetup map above. Use Google Maps instead.
This will be a short photowalk. General admission to enter the museum is $25 recommended, but you can pay whatever you want - even $1.
Be at the museum at 2pm sharp. Check online for subway service changes and/or delays in traffic. The lines to buy tickets will be long, so I will wait in the lobby until 2:30pm for everyone to be ready to enter the museum. It is imperative that everyone arrive to this event on time. Dealing with latecomers takes my time away from the people I am with as well as taking photos myself. Check online for traffic, service delays and/or changes. I can't answer my phone within the museum. SO PLEASE DON'T BE LATE!! AND PLEASE UPDATE YOUR RSVP IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT.
Pack light - I suggest just your camera and one lens, no tripod, no flash, and no food or drinks allowed in the museum - security will make you throw them away.
I highly recommend you avoid using large backpacks. Security will make you wear them in front of you, which may make it difficult to take photos. Ladies, if you have a small camera bag or handbag big enough to hold your camera, that might help.
The Met is open until 5:30pm.
