Presidential Mock Debate: Donald Trump vs. Bernie Sanders vs. Gary Johnson

  • Apr 9, 2016 · 2:00 PM

Join the members of NYC Debate for a "mock" debate between the two of the most compelling candidates from each major political parties, plus a leading third-party candidate from the Libertarian Party.

FORMAT:

• At least three volunteer debate participants needed on each side.

• As part of the "mock" debate format, each debate participants will play the role of Candidate Trump, Candidate Sanders, or Candidate Johnson.

• The spirit of the debate will be centered on a genuine intellectual and oratorical reenactment under a hypothetical General Election Year match-up between these three candidates.

• The debate will be in a "townhall" format, allowing the meetup attendees, as the "townhall audience" members, to directly ask questions to any of the candidates.

TOPICS -- there will be three debate rounds, one for each of the topics below:

Round I:  Domestic agenda: the underlying governing principles (e.g., "the role of the government"), cabinet appointments and Supreme Court nominations, immigration, energy, and "social" programs, etc.

Round II:  Economic and trade policies; budget priorities, and proposed tax plans.

Round III: Foreign policy / international relations.

We'll also need support volunteers for timekeeping and factchecking.

After the debate, be sure to stick around for the post-debate party

    Final reminders:

The doors will open at 2pm and the debate will start at 2:30pm.

Because there are very limited seats, please do not bring a guest, unless you've already notified me beforehand.

I've noted all those who enthusiastically expressed their interest in choosing a debate team, as well as assisting with timekeeping or factchecking.

For those who wish to bring food or drinks to share with others, here are some suggestions of things that we'll need:

    bottled water
    plastic cups
    paper plates and napkins
    utensils

Also, let me know if someone can bring a wine bottle opener.

Hi everyone, just a reminder to update your RSVP status, if you're unable to attend. Given that there are many on the wait list, this will give those waiting a chance at grabbing a spot.
