NYC Ruby Women Message Board › CFP for GoRuCo is now open
|A former member||
I want to let you know that the CFP for Gotham Ruby Conf (GoRuCo) is now open. The conference is June 8th in NYC.
Last year, GoRuCo held a meeting on gender diversity of the speakers and attendees and is hoping to tip the scales a bit this year. http://goruco.com/new...
I'm on the organizing committee this year, so feel free to ask me any questions (although I'm pretty green so I may or may not be able to help). We are planning a blog post on what makes a good proposal and what we are looking for, so stay tuned for that.
Here's the "official" announcement:
GORUCO 2013: Call for Proposals
The 2013 Gotham Ruby Conference (GORUCO) will be held on Saturday, June 8th in New York City and is now accepting talk proposals at http://bit.ly/goruco-....
Now in its sixth year, GORUCO is a one-day, single-track technical conference aimed towards highly motivated programmers interested in all things Ruby. With 250 attendees and hundreds more watching the live stream, this is a great speaking opportunity for any rubyist!
This year we will once again be accepting two talk formats:
* 45 minute full-length talks... or
* 10 minute micro-talks
Both formats include time for questions and discussion.
All speakers will receive free attendance to the event. In addition those speakers selected for a full-length talk will receive:
* A $300 honorarium
* A $600 travel reimbursement if you live outside of the tri-state region
GORUCO believes in highlighting local talent and we reserve at least two slots for local speakers. In the past, these slots have been less competitive than the other talk slots, so if you live in the tri-state region we strongly urge you to submit a proposal.
Finally, we will be recording all of the talks and making this video freely available online. You should be okay with this if you are submitting a talk.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com and make sure you follow us on Twitter at @goruco for more updates.
Please submit all proposals at http://bit.ly/goruco-... by 11:59:59.0 PM ET on March 14th, 2013.
Thanks, and we’re looking forward to seeing you in June!
