Re: [NYC-rb] Re: a RoR class for developers @ GA in January

I've been coming to NYC.rb for a few years, although infrequently.  It's a great group.  Email is a terrible way to be dissuaded from coming to an event.

If you want to pay 2800 for a class pay.

If you don't, don't.

If you're an adult you can make your decision.

In any case, I'm done--nyc.rb is pretty much ruined for me, before my first in-person meetup, before I had a chance to contribute back.
As a long-time NYC.rb'er, I'd like to mention that you and others would be making a mistake to judge NYC.rb based on this thread. I've learned a ton and made great friends through NYC.rb, and rarely encountered the kind of meanness in this conversation.

For those newer to Ruby, you may not yet have encountered the acronym MINASWAN. "Matz Is Nice And So We Are Nice". Matz in this is, of course, the creator of Ruby, who created this language to be a joyful experience to develop in. I try to embody MINASWAN in my dealings with the Ruby community and NYC.rb and I think it's a fine ideal for us all to shoot for.

Cheers,
Luke
