What we're about

Hello!

I started this MeetUp because I love shooting with a 35mm film camera with a manual lens. Even digital cameras try to emulate film!

So, do you want more experience on composing your shot, metering, and dialing your lens in to capture the moment?

Would you like to network, learn, and share tips with a bunch of cool and interesting folk like yourself?

Then, come join us on our next photo shoot!

There is no charge to attend the event but a donation is greatly appreciated to offset MeetUp dues - just click the "Chip In" button - thanks!

P.S. I am not a guide nor a photography instructor. My MeetUps are informal, and laid back, but fun! Having said that, you will likely meet experienced photographers.

P.P.S. Occasionally, I will arrange a few MeetUps at a live jazz venue - another perk to being a member of this MeetUp! Bring your camera to practice your low light skills.

Parlor Jazz at Marjorie Eliot's

Location visible to members

Hello! You are probably wondering what is going on? Isn't this supposed to be a Photography MeetUp? Well, besides my avid interest in film and lenses, my other interests include jazz! If you are so inclined, please feel free to join me at Marjorie Eliot's home in Harlem. And bring your camera to practice your low light skills (venue/artist permitting). Every Sunday for more than a decade, rain or shine, with no vacations, a jazz concert has taken place in the parlor of Marjorie Eliot's home on what she calls the northern tip of Harlem. Her weekly free concerts in the living room of her apartment are legendary in Harlem and an institution for jazz lovers citywide. The concert is FREE, though donations are appreciated. You can find more about Marjorie here: https://harlemonestop.com/organization.php?id=84 Please text me at[masked] if you are running late. See you soon!

New York Botanical Garden

Hello! We are meeting at the New York Botanical Garden to shoot and also get experience with macro photography. If you don't have a macro lens, you can buy a reverse ring (compatible with your camera lens mount) that can convert your lens into a macro lens. A table top tripod is strongly suggested for macro photography. You may find details about the garden here: https://www.nybg.org/visit/ Use code 9112 to save 20% on your ticket at nybg.org.
