This is your wake up call to either shape up for the run, donate some $$$ to the cancer researchers at Sloan Kettering Hospital,or decide to volunteer at this year's Terry Fox Run in Central Park on Saturday October 12th 2013 (or all of the above!).

See link for details:
 www.terryfoxrunnyc.org

Volunteers are particularly needed!

What’s in it for you:
1.Breakfast courtesy of the Four Seasons Hotel (sponsor of Terry’s run
across Canada back in the 80’s)
2. A nifty, super deluxe, Terry Fox Run NYC t-shirt, in the size of your choice
3. Free music concert and accompanying paparazzi
4. Meet nice people who want to help find a cure for Cancer (and, yes,
local Canadians! Who-hoo!)
5. Get in your good deed for the day (or year!)

See message below from Thomas Madden, Director of Volunteers for the Terry Fox NYC Run,and forward to all the "menches" you know:

Greetings Everyone!

This is a second request for everyone who would like to volunteer and have not responded back to me. We currently have about 15 people signed up to help out.

We have continually put on this fantastic event with by the time and dedication of our volunteers.  So this year, I would like everyone who is volunteering to bring a buddy as part of the Terry Fox Volunteer Buddy program. It is very simple – bring a family member, friend, significant other, colleague or favorite mayoral candidate that is running (or not – I hear the Anthony Weiner has some times on his hands) to help volunteering at the event. There are no special prizes but you should get a warm fuzzy feeling for helping to make this event special for all the participants.

As always, we only need you for a couple of hours and you can still participate in the run.

Please send an email to [address removed], Subject: 2013 NYC Terry Fox Run, along with your name, address, phone number and email address and preferred duty. You can call also call me at (914)[masked].

Duties include:

1) Registering of runners (both participants who are pre-registered and need to register)

2) Handing out T-shirts

3) Marshaling

4) General Information

5) Finish Line

6) Security/Baggage

The bulk of the volunteers are really needed to help with the large influx of people registering at the start of the race, usually from about 8:30AM to 9:20 AM. We need about 12 people to help with the registering and handing out of T-shirts.  If you are planning on participating in the race, this is the perfect place to help volunteer. We also need to help from about eight (8) people with our baggage area.

We need more people to help with marshaling along the course (bring your cell phone, iPhone, Blackberry Droid or other smartphone to stay in contact with the start/finish area and for emergency purposes) and to help with directing people to the registration area and answering general information questions before the run starts.

Volunteer timeline

Set Up - 7:00 am - 8:00 am

Registration - 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Start - 9:30 am

Race Area Clean Up - 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Thank-you so much to everyone who plans on volunteering and to everyone who has volunteered over the years. We cannot put on this event without you.

If you have any questions, please call me directly at (914)[masked]. I look forward to seeing you at the run.
