NYC Ferments started because Michaela Hayes and Angela Davis saw an empty place in the meetup community and decided to fill it. We know lots of folks who do all kinds of great ferments at home or for work and we wanted to have a place where we can come together and talk about fermented things on a fairly regular basis. We're particularly interested in the wilder ferments that are less talked about in the mainstream (lacto-ferments, kefir, kvass, etc.) but dabble with some of the more usual ferments as well (cheese, wine, beer).
We hope this meetup grows to fulfill the interests of its members. We'll meet together for fermentation events of note, create some events of our own and have regular monthly meetings to keep in touch with each others' projects.
