Ride on the beautiful Old Westbury trails
This Meetup is announced for 10am, but you can also come at 2pm. Come riding on the beautiful trail system that spans Old Westbury-Brookville-Muttontown. All skill levels are welcome. It's close and easy to get to from anywhere in the NYC Metro area, by car or by public transportation. We ride in English tack, in small groups only. Our horses are excellent: forgiving of beginners, but willing to show skilled riders a good time. If you have the skills, we'll walk-trot-canter, maybe even take a small jump. Instruction is offered, as needed/desired. We'll be in the saddle for at least 1 1/4 hours, probably closer to 1 3/4 hours; cost is $100 per person. Come discover one of the best riding opportunities in the NY Metro Area. Don't be confined to the ring -- ride for miles through woods and fields! We're riding every week. What we're about

Public Group

The purpose of this Meetup is to get you on a horse! All levels are welcome.

Your meetup organizer, Janet, is the director of Big River Barn, located in central Nassau County on Long Island. We are a mere 1/2 hour drive out of Manhattan (with no traffic), or a 40 minute train ride out of Penn Station, and we'll pick you up and bring you to the barn less than 10 minutes away, for no additional charge. In other words, we are extremely convenient to get to from anywhere in the NYC Metro Area.

And yet, we ride on spectacularly beautiful trails through woods and fields as if you are far away upstate. Check out the beautiful photos here to see for yourself. Beginning riders are welcome; experienced riders will have a chance to use their skills. Instruction is offered, but the emphasis is on having fun, as safely as possible.

Big River Barn operates 7 days a week, so you needn't feel limited to the Meetups announced here. If you want to come ride, it's best to contact me directly at janet@bigriverbarn.com. No need to fit yourself into an announced meetup. Just let me know, and I'll saddle up a horse for you.

You are also welcome to propose that we organize a new meetup ride for the group; or, to take the initiative and organize a meetup ride of your liking, and use this Meetup page to let the members know about it.
