- Partner Webinar: Security for Cellular IoT: SIM Will Not Protect You!
DATE/TIME: April 24, 2019 at 11 AM EDT / 8 AM PDT REGISTER: http://bit.ly/iotn_intrinsicid201904 Billions of devices are connected to the Internet of Things, through connectivity standards which differ in range and spectrum (e.g. 2G/3G/4G/5G, NB-IoT, CAT-M, LoRa, SigFox, etc.). One thing they all have in common: merely upholding a standard does not ensure security. Even when using widely accepted methods, such as the SIM card in cellular IoT, there is no guarantee of true end-to-end security. This leaves data vulnerable to eavesdropping and alteration at different points from edge to cloud, exposing valuable assets in market segments using these cellular connections, like Industrial IoT, critical infrastructures, automotive and wearables. In this webinar, chip vendors, connectivity module makers and IoT device manufacturers will see how to set their products apart by leveraging Intrinsic ID’s fit-for-purpose IoT security in their product portfolio. SPEAKER BIO: Vincent van der Leest is Director Product Marketing at Intrinsic ID. In his 9-year tenure at Intrinsic ID, Vincent’s roles within the organization have included business development and managing the company’s portfolio of European-funded projects. Vincent is author or co-author of a number of scientific papers on Intrinsic ID’s core technology, as well as several of the company’s patents. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology and worked for ASML and Philips before joining Intrinsic ID. - How to Make Trustworthy IoT: IoT Nation Presents ISOC-NY/OTA Security Workshop
The Hub @ Grand Central Tech
IoT Nation presents "How to Make Trustworthy IoT" - an IoT Privacy & Security Workshop with the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) and the Internet Society New York Chapter (ISOC-NY) While the vast number of Internet of Things (IoT) applications promise to impact almost every industry vertical, the growth of IoT is strongly linked to properly addressing the issues of security and privacy. This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about the issues at the intersection of IoT and Security & Privacy from experts in the field. In addition, it is a chance to establish a dialogue with The Online Trust Alliance (OTA), an Internet Society initiative. The Internet Society, founded in 1992 by the inventors of TCP/IP, has made its mission the fostering of independent collaborative processes to resolve the technical, social, and policy Internet development issues via such multi-stakeholder fora as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). In 2017 it merged with the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) to launch an initiative to enhance online trust, user empowerment, and innovation. The OTA has a broad membership including leading corporations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders. Together they have developed a set of key resources for IoT developers, including the IoT Trust Framework, an Enterprise IoT Security checklist, a Smart Home Checklist, and more. This is the first such workshop in NYC, and the benefits for the IoT Nation | NYC community are not just to take advantage of the vast experience that has gone into the OTA guidelines, but also to contribute to their ongoing development.
