Chenango Forks iBook Hackathon

From: Keith Lynne R.
Sent on: Monday, July 28, 2014 8:28 PM

Good evening,,

I just joined and am learning my way around, but thought this upcoming event might be of interest...

We've been offering this out through our own BOCES group, but Im thinking others might be interested as well, and I don't know if it will make it to you through the grapevine, so as the Chair of the Fine Arts and Occ Ed departments at Chenango Forks school district, and the district Technology Integration Specialist - Id like to cordially invite anyone to participate.

This summer, in mid August, we are hosting our second annual regional iBooks Author Hackathon.

Its a 3 day workshop/conference where we bring educators together to teach them how to create electronic textbooks, discuss and compare mobile learning methods and technologies and do cross disciplinary work on a regional level.

Last summers event was very successful, and we had nearly 40 teachers from school districts across NYS in attendance.

We expect this years 3 day event to be even bigger.

We already have Bookry Skyping in for keynote address and a work session, and our local PBS affiliate will be partnering with us again this year in both promoting, running and being present at the event.

Joining our partner WSKG Public Broadcasting this year, are Unicorn Electronics, iPevo and LYNKtec as sponsors, and we have door prizes donated by Dr. Larry Rosen (2 copies of his book ReWired, Teaching the iGeneration), Daniel Pink (2 copies of his book A Whole New Mind), Dr. Jason Ohler (2 copies of his book Digital Storytelling in the Classroom), Edutopia, subscriptions to Apple magazine and MacTech magazine and more.

The dates are August 12, 13 and 14.

More details and registration link can be found on the Forks technology page at the link below...
