Join Us at Museum of Chinese in America for a Discussion/Screening with FRED HO

(seeking two volunteers.  See the note at the bottom.)

Please join Asian American activist, composer and musician FRED HO and Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) for a celebration of his life and work with the launch of a major critical anthology, YELLOW POWER, YELLOW SOUL: THE RADICAL ART OF FRED HO (University of Illinois Press) edited by Roger Buckley and Tamara Roberts and a screening of DIARY OF THE DRAGON: THE (R)EVOLUTION OF FRED HO a documentary film that spans his early family life, tumultuous personal relationships, groundbreaking musical career and infamous revolutionary ideologies and praxis. The film features rare, exclusive footage, photos and candid interviews with a man poised to become one of the great contemporary treasures of our time.

(steve's note)

Okay, it's a little complicated: I am doing a documentary about Fred, who is a six-time Rockefeller fellow, a Guggenheim Fellow, a winner of the Harvard Arts Medal and more.  Not only that, but he memorialized his struggle against cancer in a nationally distributed book, Diary of a Radical Cancer Warrior.

Fred's cancer is in an advanced stage, and although he has a crazy schedule of concerts, talks, and even a new opera, you are probably not going to have many chances to meet this incredible author, musician, composer and activist.  So I hope to see you there.

Somebody else has completed their documentary, and they are going to screen it here, so let's check it out.

TO RSVP: Click RSVP, and then send an email to [masked]

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS:

I need two volunteers, (1) camera operator with their own a DSLR and tripod, and (2) a P.A., probably to be a boom operator.

Assuming you found someone to shoot your video. If not, let me know and I will bring my camera. If I don't hear back I will assume you don't need it and only bring me.

I have a 7D with some nice lenses. I could do your filming but all of my tripods are in other states. Let me know if you need a tripodless operator. :)
