May 4 is not only Star Wars Day, but this year it's also Mayo Day, the annual day to celebrate the culture, vibrant communities and unquenchable spirit of County Mayo in Ireland. Full disclosure, both of my grandparents were born and raised in Mayo before emigrating to the US.
This year's Mayo Day is extra special in New York as it falls on the eve of the opening match in the 2019 All-Ireland Gaelic Football tournament between Mayo and New York at Gaelic Park in Riverdale.
So join us in celebrating Mayo Day with a special Mayo Night at Connolly's Klub45. The Prodigals, a fixture on the New York Irish music scene for the last two decades, will take the stage for a rare Saturday night show in New York, there will be raffles to benefit Mayo GAA and best of all, no cover charge!
The Prodigals always put on a great live show and there should be quite a few folks over from Ireland to join in the fun.
Doors at 7, music at 8. We'll pre-game on Connolly's second floor starting around 6:30.
