April is going to be another great NYVR event! We have two great speakers lined up: Ken Perlin, a true pioneer and in the VR and computer graphics fields, and Alex Coulombe, one of the new breed, using VR to solve problems in theater design. We also have Sixense (VR Jedi training... I literally can't even right now) and MergeVR who will be giving NYVR demos of their VR tech.
Presentations will start promptly at 6:30pm so we have plenty of time to demo and network.
Kenneth H. "Ken" Perlin is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at New York University, founding director of the Media Research Lab at NYU, and the Director of the Games for Learning Institute. His research interests include graphics, animation, multimedia, and science education. He developed or was involved with the development of techniques such as Perlin noise, hypertexture, real-time interactive character animation, and computer-user interfaces such as zooming user interfaces, stylus-based input, and most recently, cheap, accurate multi-touch input devices. Ken is also the Chief Scientific Advisor of Tactonic Technologies, LLC.
Alex Coulombe is an architect and VR developer that has created a virtual reality application to address seating layout issues in theater design.
Please let us know if you have a start up, project, or area of expertise that you would like to present at one of our events. We would love to hear from you.
