- Colored Gel Photo Shoot - Model Sign Up
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING UP. THIS IS THE MODELS ONLY SIGN UP intended to determine the level of interest for this shoot on this particular date. There will be a separate event sign up for photographers once we reach a minimum number (3) of models. If I don't receive this minimum by the end of day Monday the 10th, I will cancel this event and refund any fees paid. Please also note that there is a model sign up fee of $10. This is to assure that those models that sign up are truly interested and hopefully will minimize last minute cancellations and no shows. To received a full refund I am asking that models cancel at least 24 hours before the start of the event to give us time to fill your spot in you cannot attend. Please also note, that I will be refunding the $10 sign up fee on the day of the event to those models that attend. Those models that cancel less than 24 hours before the start of the event will not receive refunds. I reserve the right to waive the fee for models that have had excellent attendance records. Photographer information: THIS IS NOT YOUR SIGN UP PAGE. There will be a separate event page for photographer sign up. This will be a intermediate level photo shoot, however I am willing to include a limited number of beginners. We will be attempting to make some creative images using colored gels and off camera lights, but this isn't the easiest concept to do well. I recommend a minimum of two lights to create good images. I am including a couple of example set ups in the photo sections to provide ideas. I will make available some colored gels suitable for use with standard speedlights. We will be working in pairs. If the photographers can work together and have similar lighting systems (triggers) then the number of lights that each photographer will need to provide may be reduced. We should should have room for about 4 stations (~8 photographers) especially if we plan for portrait or 3/4 length images. A backdrop is not required, however I highly recommend one. I will be setting up one station complete with backdrop and about 4 lights (studio plus speedlights) that will work with the Yongnuo 603/605 trigger system. I will have some Canon and Nikon triggers available for use. I will be sharing my station with up to 2 beginner photographers that may not have lights for this shoot. The other photographers will need to set up their own stations. I may bring along an extra backdrop stand and cloth backdrop if some needs to borrow them. We will renting the entire the studio. I will be limiting this to 8 other photographers and 5 models.

- Night Time Photography 101
Night-Time Photography 101 https://www.instagram.com/jeanreneephotography/ Have you ever stared endlessly into the night sky, mesmerized by the stars, picking out constellations, trying to catch a glimpse of a meteorite or perhaps the International Space Station? This course will teach you the beginning tools necessary to capture the night sky, including the Milky Way, the moon, and the Aurora Borealis. In this class we will show how to select the appropriate equipment, how to properly scout out, setup, focus on, and expose for the Milky Way, moon, and Aurora Borealis. We will also discuss methods to identify and use foreground to make your photographs even more interesting. This class will touch on post-processing methods. Pre-requisites: It will be helpful if you already have a DSLR camera, and know at least the basics of its operation and how to manually change its settings. However, those without a DSLR will still be able to get a lot out of the class. Payment for this class through Eventbrite. - Starved Rock Bald Eagle photo walk
***RSVP only if you are serious about attending.*** During the months of January and February bald eagles become very active in the area around Starved Rock State Park. Illinois has the second largest population of bald eagles in the U.S. with Alaska being first. We will be walking along the trails following the Illinois River for a chance to see and photograph these amazing animals. For equipment I'd recommend to bring a camera with good focus and a lens that has a 200mm reach or longer. Lens or camera stabilization is highly recommended as well. It will be cold outside so dress for the occasion. Wear shoes and boots with good traction as the area should be covered in snow from the forecast predicted. I will announce weather forecast closer to date of event. Sometimes the parking lot area closer to the visitors center gets flooded with heavy rain and it makes it difficult to find parking. I advise to get there early. Any questions feel free to ask. PS I took that picture of the bald eagle at Starved Rock. ***RSVP only if you are serious about attending.***
- Say Goodbye to the Teen Years Photo Walk
I thought one more photo walk was in order for the end of the year. Since I am the founder and organizer of the Chicago Streets and Beyond Photo Group I do most of these in the city of Chicago. But this week I'm staying closer to my home in Naperville, so I thought I should do a walk with both groups. That being said we will be joined on this walk by members of the Chicago Streets and Beyond Photography Group. Chris and I have been friends and co-organizers of both groups for a number of years and saw each other just this past Saturday for a sunrise shoot. We have also gone on several photo excursions together. We will walk through the historic district, downtown, and of course the River Walk. So come join us for a nice walk as we close out the teen years and the 5th year of existence for both the Naperville Photo Group and the Chicago Streets and Beyond Photo Group. Hope to See You!
- Lincoln Park Zoo Lights Holiday Walk
***RSVP only if you are serious about attending.*** Zoo lights are back up in Lincoln Park. Lets walk around and admire the festivities and watch some animals as well. The Zoo Lights is a free attraction for all and they have tickets for purchase for rides and other activities, please refer to the link for more details. We will meet up in front of the Kovler sea lion pool and we will decide on the best route to take or split up into groups depending on the amount of attendees. This will be first and foremost a photo walk but models are free to join us if they want their pictures taken TFP. Please bring minimal equipment as we will be mobile and there will be huge crowds of people walking around taking pictures as well. An aperture lens of F2.8 or faster and high ISO will be best to use. Flash may not be permitted in the park not fully sure. I know flash is definitely not permitted on the animals or inside animal houses. Stands and tripods are not permitted inside the zoo area as well. It will probably be cold out and since we a will be by the lake it might a bit colder. Dress for the occasion and weather. I will announce the weather forecast closer to the event time. I would suggest to get there early to give time to find parking. There is free street parking but it will be difficult to find. Public transportation is highly recommended. More info regarding the Zoo Lights please click link below. https://www.lpzoo.org/zoolights-presented-comed-and-invesco-qqq ***RSVP only if you are serious about attending.***
- Magic Box / Holiday Photo Shoot
We'll take photos of models opening gift boxes giving the "magic box" effect, as well as models dressed in Christmas-themed outfits (such as Santa's helpers, elves, etc.). Models can also dress in general holiday themed attire as well. Models (both male and female) are welcome to join us free of charge -- Please post a comment below and I will add you. I will adjust the attendee limit as models sign up. Feel free to bring any props you may have to add to the theme, such as boxes wrapped with wrapping paper, gift boxes, Christmas/holiday lights, etc. I will set up two stations: one will be a solid red backdrop, and another will be one for the magic box stations with fog. There is space for 2-3 more stations so if you would like to set one up please leave a comment below. If someone has a spare fog machine we could probably use a second one (I can provide the fog fluid). Photographers will need to provide their own lighting equipment. I'll add more details as we get closer to the event date. If you have any questions or suggestions, please post a comment below or you can PM me. The first and last 15 minutes will be used for announcements, setup and clean up. ------- PLEASE NOTE that ProCAM has a minimum $250 fine that will be assessed to the group if we damage the studio. Some tips for helping keep the studio clean: Please wear the special socks when you are walking on the white wall and avoid dragging anything across the white floor and only use gaffers tape if you are going to tape things to the floors. -------------- As a member of the Naperville Photo Group, you qualify to receive special discounts on ProMaster products, as well as discounts on studio and equipment rentals. They currently have some great sales going on, and will have more as we get closer to the Christmas holiday season. If you find a cheaper price online (from B&H, Adorama, etc) check with Bill--he will do his best to price match. Shopping locally also helps keep more of your tax dollars in your community. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or see Bill Skinner at ProCAM.
