Friday Night Contra Dance

Second Presbyterian Church

Beginner lesson starts at 7:30 and ends at 8:00. The dance begins at 8:00 and ends at 10:30. This is a lively social dance, easy to learn, live music, smiling faces, helpful dancers all kept whirling and twirling by the helpful volunteer organizers. This is a historial dance style rooted in Western Europe upon arriving in the United States it became a bit livlier and the music and styles have taken on the characteristics of the regions of the country it evolved in. Wear casual clothing, You will easily find many videos online if you want to see dance fashions. Non marking Soft sole shoes are important, some dancers dance barefoot and that okay. Parking, facing the church from Belmont the best place to park is the lot on the right. The entrance to the dance is about halfway along the same side of building.
