What do you hope to learn from this MeetUp?

I want to learn more about product development. I'm formally new to this arena, but I read a lot of books, articles and soak in a lot of other content on this topic out of sheer interest. While I've always been interested in this field, my background is in civil engineering and communication studies because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to study, career-wise, when I was in college. In fact, when I wrapped up school, I went right into marketing, brand strategy, content strategy/writing then technical writing. This summer, I am refreshing myself on programming languages I learned as a kid and teenager (C++ and Java), and I'm aspiring to learn more thereafter, so I can be a better candidate/asset to join product development communities and jobs ... and maybe even bring some of my own ideas to fruition, as well as help others do the same! More heads are better than one!

How did you hear about us?

THE STICKER! There were stickers on the table where our name tags were for this month's Lunch & Learn, hosted by TechFed Nashville. I've got a keen eye for design and branding, and I was taken aback by the logo for Product Camp. The seminar was called “Top Five Lessons Learned: A Career at the Intersection of Business and Product." I got sucked into this realm even more and knew I had to dig deeper if I wanted to get involved with product development one day. I scoped out the Product Camp Nashville website, and the rest was history. I'm so glad I picked up a sticker!

How else do you tap in to the Product Development community in Nashville?

So far, I'm just getting started! I've been following some people on LinkedIn that work in product development, if that counts? Outside of LinkedIn, when I'm finding events in Nashville that are related to product development, I try to jump right on them.

What Pratishtha S. is saying about this Meetup Group

This meetup was right up my alley! I met friendly people working on the backend of CRMs, digital advertising, product managers, font enthusiasts, software engineers and more. I even learned that I didn't need to brush up on C++ and Java anymore; I could jump right into Ruby, instead.
