Soddy-Possum Segments of CT

Meeting Time: 5PM, Friday, October 24th (Flexible. Let me know if you need to leave earlier/later.)
Meeting Place: Target Hickory Hollow
Estimated Drive Time One Way: 2 hours
Hike Distance: About 26 miles
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous This was a hike we tried through the Nashville Hiking Meetup in February. Because of spring runoff and a lack of bridges, we couldn't go the whole way.

But... the Cumberland Trail Conference is currently in the process of building three bridges across the most difficult crossings. (Click here to see the Hiking Meetup helping with one of the bridges.)

We will be hiking the Possum and Soddy Creek segments, north to south, from the Retro-Hughes trailhead to the Mowbray Road trailhead.

The plan is to leave Nashville Friday afternoon, drop off one car at the end of the trail, and drive to camp at the other end. We will be back in Nashville by sometime in the late afternoon Sunday.

Don't let the distance scare you, we will be hiking about 10 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday, so only about 1.5 miles per hour. A very manageable pace, but please let me know if you are an absolute beginner to backpacking.

Please bring your own gear, gas money, and money for a meal on Friday and Sunday.

If you have equipment shortages or concerns, let me know and we can try to come up with a solution.

James, what time do you expect to start hiking from Retro-Hughes on Saturday morning?

I live in Cookeville, so it makes more sense for me to drive to Soddy Daisy if you don't mind that. Let me know which trailhead you would prefer to meet me at.
