Ancient Symbols, Modern Guides 12:00pm to 2:00pm $25 tuition 19 page handout (please RSVP early to make sure enough handouts are printed) Grandfather Rick McBride In this lecture we will consider a number of ancient symbols left behind by the ancestors of this land. The purpose of this exploration is to tap into the deeper meanings of petroglyphs, geoglyphs, story hides, etc. in order to expand our connection to the spirit world but with the Earth Mother through ceremony. These can be traditional ceremonies or personal ceremonies you create for yourself. There will be discussion of how ritual, then ceremony evolved through the use of glyphs. If you intend to create Medicine Shields, paint your hand drum, or otherwise use these artifacts in respectful ways, this talk will be of particular interest to you. Rick McBride is mixedblood Tsalagi (Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road for over 30 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief, which means Red Heart. He is a sundancer and has been traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies, such as inipi (purification lodge), prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe), drum healing and so forth. He has been publicly teaching these ways for ten years now.
